Ali Parsian, a staff member responsible for journal affairs and international affairs at Sadjad University, reached the summit of Mount Damavand on 29 Ordibehesht 1405. He completed the ascent via the northeastern route as a representative of Sadjad University.
At 5,610 metres, Damavand is Iran’s highest peak, the highest volcano in Asia, and one of the country’s best-known natural symbols. It is located in the central Alborz range, in the Larijan district of Amol County, Mazandaran Province. Damavand also holds a special place in Iranian culture and mythology. According to Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, Fereydun imprisoned Zahhak within this mountain; the “Takht-e Fereydun” shelter on the northeastern route takes its name from this account.
Beginning in the village of Nandel, the northeastern route is longer and more demanding than the commonly used southern route and passes by the large Aroosakha and Yakhar glaciers.
